26 Jun Natural cosmetics in Montseny
This past weekend I joined my sister for the last part of her natural cosmetic course. We went to a farm in the beautiful countryside of Montseny, 45 minutes from Barcelona, and stayed there all weekend. After 3 months of theory finally they were getting HANDS ON experience!!
The classes felt like being in a fusion between a lab and a kitchen. Even if the ingredients are natural, some are reactive components so when mixing them you have to wear masks and gloves. Not a kid friendly activity! 🙂
I found it very interesting to understand all the different layers you have to think of when making a natural soup, shampoo, cream, etc… Thinking about chemical reactions, desired texture, smell, durability, the best temperatures to preserve properties from the essential oils, the function of each element, and also the aesthetics like the color and shape. There is a lot to think about and lots of places where you most commercial products take a wrong turn.
On the other hand, with the natural approach, the mix of ingredients like silk thread, coconut oil, olive oil, clay, shea butter, carbon, cocoa butter, dry orange zest and dry herbs, essential oils, and algae make our natural soups and creams like a special treat for our body.
If I’m lucky maybe my sister will make some special cream for me. I’ll keep you posted if she starts her own line! 🙂
